Barbaric Act Against Mehbooba Mufti
By Syed Rifaquat Ali
Jammu and Kashmir former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti's detention under the Public Security Act (PSA) is not only draconian, but barbaric too. The Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, is leader of 1.3 billion people and he aught to act justly and with sagacity in matters which draw world anger. Mehbooba Mufti's illegal detention is world news, covered by the international media without any bias.
Narendra Modi should not play in the hands of RSS which is hell-bent to achieve its agenda of a Hindu Rashtra in pluralistic India. Wake up Mr.Modi before it is too late. Anarchy is looming in India and chaotic India will not forgive Narendra Modi for his bigotry and dastardly act, and he will be guilty of matricide before the world and before God's eternal justice.
One wonders what crime Mehbooba Mufti has committed that she remains in detention, and that too under PSA, for such a long period.
Is Narendra Modi really so scared of Mehbooba Mufti's release?
The former J and K chief minister, Omar Abdullah, said that there is no justification for continued detention of former CM Mehbooba Mufti and other mainstream leaders detained after the abrogation of Article 370 and demanded they must be set free. He tweeted: over the next few days the PSA detention orders of Mehbooba Mufti, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Shah Faisal and others are due to expire.
There was no justification for their detention much less an extension (ANI, May 4, 2020). The Modi government is treating the Muslim leaders in J and K in the most primitive and uncivilized way.
The Muslim world must get united to act against the BJP government at the Centre to ensure peace in the Asian continent.
The UNO should also intervene without delay to warn Narendra Modi of his highhandedness against the Muslims in India, failing which there could be communal violence on a large scale and millions will die.
Home Minister Amit Shah's philosophy to change the demography of Kashmir is to undermine the power and unity of the Muslims who are a warrior race and the Muslims of Kashmir will not tolerate any further.
India is already plagued by a plethora of national and international problems: bitter relations with Pakistan, strained relations with China over territorial dispute in Galwan Valley and Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh, Lipulekh and Kalapani border issue with Nepal, border dispute with Bhutan, unfriendly ties with Bangladesh, the dispute between the land in Kabaw Valley near Hollenpai village, Moreh of Manipur state, India, and Namphalong village, Tamu of Sagaing region, Myanmar.
But, it seems, Modi is least bothered about such pricking international issues. He is more interested in the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid stood for about four hundred years, but was demolished by Hindu bigots, hurting the sentiments of millions of Muslims for all time to come.
This act has waned the camaraderie between the Hindus and Muslims and there seems to be no healing touch in sight. What have you gained Mr. Modi by your pervasive act to create disharmony between Hindus and Muslims.
Posterity will not forgive you for your ostrich policy.
