Brutalities Continue In Kashmir
By Syed Rifaquat Ali
While the BJP government claims that peace has returned in Kashmir and restrictions lifted, the fact is that brutalities are increasing alarmingly day by day and the lockdown shows no sign of abating.
The Indian prime minister, Narender Modi, a habitual liar, is telling the world that after the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir, terrorism has been checked largely.
If that be the case, why two former chief ministers of Kashmir ---Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who have been under House arrest since last August --- have been booked on February 6 under the Public Saftey Act (PSA), a stringent law allowing detention without trial for up to two years.
Omar Abdullah's father, Dr.Farooq Abdullah, over eighty years old, is already in detention under PSA.
Earlier, three other Kashmiri politicians were also charged under the same law, leading to questions about the Centre's claim of normalcy in the Union territory.
The National Conference (NC) leader and former NC minister Ali Mohammad Sagar, former NC legislator Bashir Ahmad Veeri and Sartaj Madani, the maternal uncle of Mehbooba Mufti, were booked on Thursday (Feb.6) under the PSA.
They have been under preventive detention since August 2019. With Kashmir reeling under a savage governance, Ajit Doval, national security adviser, who is a moron to the core, had the cheek to tell NDTV channel that "no human right has been violated in Kashmir."
Over four hundred Kashmiri politicians are in detention and the situation is pretty grim in Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti's daughter, Iltija, who is in her teens, says that "Kashmir has been caged like animals and deprived of basic human rights."
Narender Modi is bent upon destroying Kashmir since it a Muslim state and is pursuing the agenda of Rashtra Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) which wants to convert India into a Hindu state: a dream which will remain a dream till eternity.
The two hundred million Muslims in India, more than the population of Pakistan, are keeping their patience intact, despite blatant discrimination and bullying at all levels.
Once they lose their patience, the government will find it difficult to control the bloody situation. The Muslims are a martial race and cannot be cowed down by idol worshippers who are no warriors as history says. The United Nations and First World countries must wake up to intervene in Kashmir in order to ensure that the violation of human rights must stop forthwith, the leaders are
released immediately and freedom of expression is restored.
Further delay in this direction will apparently further complicate the situation and Kashmir could become a battleground of unprecedented magnitude in the sub-continent.
